Main Street Development and Community Fund (MSDCF)

The logo was commissioned by Silver Enterprises, Inc.  A few years ago the company presented a program to the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Lander County Commissioners which provided a vision for the revitalization of downtown Austin. The logo became the "trademark" of that presentation

In preparing the presentation of series of depictions were drawn but the one that stood out the most was the logo used in the presentation.  It depicts the historic heritage of Austin, Stokes Castle and Ruel C. Gridley along with the symbol for U. S. Highway 50, formerly the Lincoln Highway, and the banner citing "Town of Austin" est. 1862.  The Castle still stands, as if a guardpost, overlooking the entrance to Austin and the surrounding Reese River Valley, and Mr. Gridley with his "Sanitary Fund" sack of flour lives on as the forerunner of the American Red Cross. Mr. Gridley raised some $275,00 for the benefit of those wounded and suffering the effects of the Civil War. Gridley's Store is still in existance on the East end of Austin.
